Day 17, September 3, 2002.

We woke up a 6 and 8 o'clock we were at the gate of the Australian zoo, the zoo opened at 8:30 so we had to wait for a wile. We had a nice chat with someone from the staff, he told us that Steve was not there, he was in New Zealand for work. The park is great, Crocodiles, Kangaroo's, Koala's, Otters, Turtles, Snake's. Steve is trying to protect those animals from extinction and does great work. We saw a lot of demonstrations, What to do in case of a snake bite, feeding the otters and the crocodiles. We cuddled Kangaroo's and a giant Piton, "feels like a shoe" Ittie said. Later we saw the Dutch people of the camping, she asked how the fridge was working. When we ware waiting for the crocodile to be fed, we saw two English people we met on Lady Elliot Island. I said "It's a small world". It's fascinating to hear the bang if the jaws of the crocodile close. We had something to eat in the zoo and while we sat there a black swan came to us. Ittie gave him some bread and he took it out of her mouth, so Ittie had a kiss of a swan. After the zoo we went to the Glasshouse Mountains and had a beautiful view. I has been a fantastic day.

Day 18, September 4, 2002

We left the camping at 9 o'clock and asked by an information bureau what there was to see in the neighborhood. We had a nice tour through the hills, were shopping in a nice little town called Montville. Old houses with little shops souvenirs, art, paintings etc. After we drove on, we had a walk through a national park. We almost could practice what we had learned yesterday, because we saw a snake just beside the pad. We past him in a wide circle, look like a roundabout  Ittie said. When we came back on the parking place, some people asked us "are you the aliens from Holland", yes we were. We had a nice conversation, exchanged email addresses and showed each others grandchildren. Then we drove through Brisbane, over a giant toll bridge to the gold coast. Kilometers only shops and huge hotels, the further we came the harder Ittie laughed, because I didn't want to stay on a camping in a city, and the city wouldn't end. Finaly we found a camping in Kirra, Kirra beach. After dinner we walked to the beach but the lights were already out there.
