Day 13, August 30, 2002.
We had to be on the airport at 7:40 and had lift off at 8:20 with a two motor Airplane from 20 years old, to Lady Elliot Island. We had to land in Bundaberg to pick up another passenger and arrived on the island at 9 o'clock. It's a small island in the Great Barrier Reef, the landingstrip was 550 m long and just grass. We have been snorkeling, swimming between the colorful fish and corral, You must see it to believe. I just felt like Jack Coustau. I could almost touch the fish. We had a trip with a glass bottom boat over the reef, very beautiful. Ittie discovered a giant sea turtle on the bottom. The water is so clear you can see to 25 m dept. We had dinner at the island, very good. Ittie lost the key of our locker, cost $5,00 but we had a great day. At the end of the day the plain picked us up and took us back to Hervey Bay. During our flight we saw Wales in the see below us.

Day 14, August 31, 2002
Today we drove from Hervey Bay in the direction of Marochydore, because it was not so far we took the tourist route. The roads were getting worse and worse and at the and we drove on a gravelroad with red dust. 20 km straight ahead. We where just about turning around when we reached the asphalt road and we discovered we drove a long way in the wrong direction. So we went back to Gympie and took from there the highway to Noosa Heads. We drove trough the city but it was very busy there. A few km further south we found a camping by Coolum Beach. Tomorrow we take the bus to Noosa Heads, maybe there is something to do in the evening, so we can stay up late for one night.
