Day 11, August 28, 2002.

This morning we asked at the reception if there was a bus to take us to the center. The only bus was the schoolbus and he was just left. The owner of the camping would take us but than we had to take a cab on our way back for $30,00 so we went with the camper. We went to a view lookouts under witch the highest point of Gladstone. And we went shopping in the center. At about 14:00 we were back on the camping and walked around in the neighborhood. In the garden of a house nearby  We saw very big fruits on a tree, almost as big as a football and with the color of lemon. Ittie was nosy and crawled through the fence, to borrow one. Back at the Camper we cut it in half, Ittie let an Australian guy taste a piece and when he didn't get sick we eat the rest. It was a big grapefruit, with a very thick skin. Very nice taste. After 6 we have been reading in the camper with a drink.

Day 12, August 29, 2002

We started driving at about 8 o'clock in the direction of Maryborough. We left the Highway and took the tourist route. In Bundaberg we went to the Rum distillery, this is the most famous rum in Australia. We hoped that the liquor was a bit cheaper here but it was just as expensive as the bottleshop. We didn't wait for the tour but drove further to Hervey Bay, where we arrived on the camping at 14:00 our. A beautiful camping in a beautiful town with a boulevard by the beach wit shops, we walked around and bought some beer and liquor. Back on the camping we booked for a trip to Lady Elliot Island for tomorow. A small Island in the great Barrier Reef.
