Day 23, September 9, 2002.

We left this morning at 8:30 direction south, we followed the highway for a time but tried a tourist route again later. We had a great view and a nice route with 33 km gravel road. Ittie saw cows walking through the swamp and took a little movie (how sad). After the gravel we had to take a ferry to Port Macquarie. We found a camping there and walked into the city. A big center. We were asked to cooperate with an  inquiry, then we had to scratch a ticket and we won a trip to Thailand for 7 days Hurrah!!!!(Timesharing). After that we did our groceries and walked along the waterside back to the camping. Along the waterside are many big rocks where everybody painted there names on, some where very beautiful. We bought some steaks, and baked them on the BBQ, in the evening we went to the reception where we could check our email for free. all advertizing.

Day 24, September 10, 2002

This morning we doubt if we wanted to stay for another day in Port Macquarie, but we decided to drive further on to Taree. We took the tourist route via Wauchope and Comboyne. In Comboyne we asked for the road on a woman who was working in the garden, she had apparently not seen any strangers for some time because she just keeps on talking, even Ittie couldn't get through. We wrote her address down and promised to send her a Christmas card with Christmas. Of Comboyne it was all gravelroads until we arrived at Ellenborough falls. We walked around there and had a couple of nice views. Ten further over small mountain gravel roads to Taree. In Taree we asked for a camping by an Information bureau, we got some maps from the surroundings of Taree and fount a couple of nice T-shirts for the grandchildren. Then we found the camping, a simple camping (find your own spot at the river for $18,00) but clean. We are now standing at the river in the cockpit working on our diary. It's 6 o'clock and starting to get dark, Ittie has the feeling she has been on a fun fair all shaken up, and she asked is the van on the handbrake, I told her there is a tree in front.
