Special Katje 

As people who know me should know, I like beer very much. You can imagine my surprise when I discovered a special beer in Belgium with the name Special Katje. It's a delicious brown beer from the brewery Leroi in Boezinge. Inquiry by the brewery told me that the name Katje had nothing to do with a person (I  had hope that one of my grand, grand parents had brewed this beer).Boezinge is part of the city Ieper, laying on a distance of 5 km. In former days there was in Ieper every year a parade , called the 'Kattenstoet' because everything in the City Ieper is connected with the animal the cat. By the first  'Kattenstoet' (this must have been end 50's 1957 or 1958) was there brewed a special beer called after this parade, 'Special Katje'. Nowadays this parade goes one's in the three years, the next time must be somewhere around May 2003. This parade seems to be interesting to watch some time. You can not buy the beer in the Netherlands but I've got myself a view bottles from the brewery in Belgium. It's a delicious beer, if you ever get in the neighborhood you should try it, in the region you can order it on a terrace.
